Services

Individual Music Therapy: Offered in half hour and hour sessions. Music therapy often mirrors goals that are targeted in Speech-Language therapy, Occupational therapy, Behavior therapy, and other traditional therapies.  However, in Music Therapy the child accomplishes traditional goals in a non-traditional format.  During music interventions, the child is encouraged to engage with the therapist during instrument play, sing alongs, song stories, and movement songs.  Upon completing a formal assessment, the therapist will design specific goals and objectives to target social/cognitive, language/communication, sensory/perceptual, and motor skills.

Music Enrichment
:  During music enrichment- music therapy sessions, a child is encouraged to further develop therapeutic goals through instrument implementation.  Upon evaluation the therapist will encourage the child to select an instrument (piano, violin, guitar, percussion, etc) to use as a catalyst for therapeutic goal implementation.  Typical goals include improvement in motor skill development, confidence/self-esteem building, pragmatic skill development, and motor planning/organizational skills.

Sibling Relationship Development: These classes target the relationship between the child, involved in therapy, and his or her sibling.  During SRD interventions, both children participate in activities they prefer.  The purpose of the class is to increase language and communication between the siblings in a social environment.  Often, the therapist will encourage the parent to bring in objects from home to help generalize social skills learned in the therapy session to the home environment.

Move and Groove Class: The six-week Move and Groove class is designed for three to six year olds.  The class goal is for children to explore social skills with peers through dancing, singing, and playing.  Children will be encouraged with finger plays, bubbles, puppet play, and instrument play while engaging peers in social activities.  “Move and Groove” classes are offered on Tuesdays 4:00-5:00 and Thursdays 5:00-6:00.

We Are Family Class: The six- week We are Family class targets the relationship between the child, involved in therapy, and his or her sibling.  Through Sibling Relationship Development interventions, both children participate in activities they prefer.  The purpose of the class is to increase interaction and play skills between the siblings in a social environment through dancing, singing, and playing instruments.  Siblings must be three years old to participate.  “We Are Family” classes are offered on Mondays from 4:00-5:00.
