ABOUT OUR DIRECTOR:
Jillian Mehler, MT -BC, NMT
Board Certified Music Therapist, Neurologic Music Therapist
Jillian received a degree in Music Therapy from Charleston Southern University. She later pursued certification in Neurologic Music Therapy through Colorado State University. Jillian has several years of experience working with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders, language and communicative impairments, and other varied exceptionalites. She offers music therapy services through her private practice and for Kendall Speech and Language Center. Jillian instructs an undergraduate student practicum at the University of Miami through on-site clinical supervision. Her dynamic therapy approach includes behavioral, sensory integration, and neurological implementations through music.

Saenya Simms, B.S.
Creative Arts Program Coordinator
Saenya Simms received her Bachelor's from Florida International University and has had 12 years of experience working with children with Autism and other related disorders. Saenya has also completed a course in behavior management and has attended other workshops, which help to facilitate childrens' learning experiences. Saenya thinks that music is an important part of life and that all children should have the opportunity to have the experience of how it can impact their lives.
Virginia G. Detzner, MS, MT-BC
Board Certified Music Therapist
Virginia Detzner has over 18 years of experience as a Board-Certified Music Therapist. Her Bachelor's of Arts degree was obtained at the University of Miami. She completed a Master's degree in teaching the mentally handicapped from Nova Southeastern University. She has worked as a certified teacher in music and in special education.
